Hello! It's been a while! I really haven't been doing much, and I hate to write about doing nothing (like I am now), so I have saved up a bunch of semi-interesting moments in my past week. Yay! ( ゚ヮ゚)

So I am still in this hotel. It has been 22 days. ( ´Д`) (13 in this hotel--wow almost two weeks.) But at least I have found stuff to do!

A cicada I saw on my way out. The first one I've seen near me!

I am lucky that there are a bunch of really nice teachers in Hitachi who have asked me to do things! On Friday Nikki asked me out to a planetarium show at the civic center. The show was cool, until the clown came in. >.> But the science museum was AWESOME.

Cool lightscape thingy.

They had a bunch of awesome optical illusions. My favorite (and by favorite I mean I went in it like 6 times) was this bridge surrounded by this circular thing that rolled. The rolling thingy had bright, glow in the dark paint, illuminated by a black-light. When you go in it, it tricks you into thinking the bridge is moving, and you start to fall over. It is like logically you understand that you are standing straight, but your brain/inner ear cannot understand that. It mad me sick, but it was so amazing!!! ヽ(´ー`)ノ

Charlie and the Choco Factory like illusion.

Afterwards Nikki and I went to a swanky hotel lounge called "The Library" and had a drink.

Horrible picture... but it was really nice.

As I have mentioned before, alcoholic drinks are the same price as non-alcoholic drinks, so it is a better use of 500 yen to get a mixed drink. I got a "BigApple"... I think...

My yummy drink.

Afterwards I had a blast (and free pizza) at a place called "Tanyas". I should have taken some pictures. I was very proud of myself, I stayed out until 1am! And then I let some guys drag me to karaoke! I'm always the only girl, lol. (Like when I went bowling on Thursday, not much to say about that, it was pretty much the same as in the US! :D)

My lunch on Saturday, the chicken was so good!

On Saturday I decided to wander. I went and got some lunch, and then I ended up at a drug store, where I happily purchased a razor. I also discretely snapped some pictures. (‐^▽^‐)オーホッホ

A special prize (aka my love) if you can guess what this is! (Before reading below...)

I was surprised to stumble upon an interesting section in the drug store. At first they looked like perfume or something... and then...

What a selection!

Aren't they kinda snazzy looking? And yes, they are condoms. I am sorry to bring attention to them, but I found them really interesting. Especially the very girly ones!

Everything is cute in Japan, including condoms XD

Next I walked. I just kept walking towards the mountains. It was so nice and cool.

This is where I ended up, after following a small, dirt path. XD

On Sunday, I decided to go to Nitori, an Ikea-like store that Nikki told me about. While I was getting ready I got involved with this show. I had seen it before, but I had no clue what was going on. When I realized I could play along with my freaking REMOTE CONTROL--I became kind of obsessed. XD

The answers (colored) on the bottom match up with buttons on my remote.

The show essentially quizzes you on your ability to use the special functions of the remote. >.< I know, sounds lame, but I was really excited to get points!

I picked red and...

Yatta! I got it right! :D

Yeahhh... Japanese TV is strange, isn't it?

After the TV show lost it's hold on me, I went walking. Nitori is about a little over a mile away from where I currently reside.

The street I was walking on.

A Bob's Big Boy! (More on that later!)

Nitori was pretty cool, but furniture is still pretty expensive for its size. >.< I think I still may buy my mattress from the store though! I found the most wonderful, soft, fluffy, memory foam mattress. It was like sitting on a cloud. ヽ(´ー`)ノ

My new love... sorry Robby! (´∀`)

This pillow was also heavenly.

The chairs lost their legs somewhere!!!( ゚Д゚)

Beeedssss, what a beautiful sight!

Below the Nitori there was a sports store. I found (what I had expected anyway) that Japanese bathing suits all have skirts for bottoms. I guess if I am going to go swimming I should buy a more modest suit... *sigh* (And now this is stuck in italics and I can't fix it ;o;)

They ARE really cute! :D

So by this time, I was starving, because I'd only had a banana all day. (I got up at 1pm and didn't feel like eating lunch.) My goal everyday is to spend only around 1000 yen. (About 10 bucks.) So I decided to go out, either to a sushi place or to try Bob's.

Bob's won!

Bob's in Japan is a bit different, although it isn't totally Japanese. They have Japanese options though, but mainly the menu consisted of...

STEAK! And hamburger. And some chicken...

I ordered the grilled chicken with a demi-glaze. I added on a drink bar and a soup bar. Dad, you would like this--they had a salad bar! It was too expensive for me though, plus I wouldn't have been able to eat a lot anyway.

My soup and first drink!

Oh my, the soup was so yummy! It was minestrone (they also had onion and corn) but it didn't taste like normal... but whatever it tasted like it was good! I had four cups, and I wanted more. XD

My favorite drink ever--iced matcha milk tea.

Drink bars in Japan, like you would find in a Coco's, Denny's or Bob's, are self serve. They have a bunch of cold and hot items. A lot of people sit for hours and just keep getting drinks. I did my best to milk my 150 out of it with a melon soda and two matcha milks.

My freaking AMAZING dinner/lunch/breakfast. XD

Oh my, my food was so good too! Augh, it was so nice to have freshly cooked chicken that wasn't fried! The sauce was so yummy too. Gahhhh, I'm getting hungry thinking about it!!! Best 580 I have spent so far! I am tempted to go back. (`・ω・´)

The kid's menu. Bob has a dog!

Oh! I almost forgot! I have a funny little story. I was getting another matcha milk and this little boy was in front of me. He was getting a hot drink. Now the buttons for the hot/cold drinks were on two sides, and then where it came out was in the middle, but he put is cup right under the hot buttons and pressed one. I quickly pulled the cup over and said "koko/here". He looked at me, looked at his cup, then looked at me again about three times. XD At the end he stared at me and said "bai bai" and waved. I said "bai" as well. Hahaha. And that's not it! I was getting some more soup, and he comes over directly to me and asks "sutura wa doko/where are the straws?" I go and grab him one and say "kore ga hoshii/is this what you want?" and he looks at me and says "arigatou/thanks". Ahaha, it was so fun! I can't wait to teach. >.<

An air freshener in the bathroom. Interesting name, lol.

That's it! I'm gonna get ready and go eat. I'm starving now! Then I am going to go to the office and ask them to take the apartment they showed me on Thursday. It is kinda big, a 2DK (2 bedroom, dining, kitchen) and it is 50,000 a month, but that is really good really. I just wanna save money, but I found a 1K (1 bedroom, kitchen) in the same area for 40,000 a month, so I think it is work the extra 10,000. Sadly there are not many options. Because of the damage in Fukushima, a lot of people have had to rent because their houses are damaged. The apartment is in a town about 20 mins north of my actual working city, but what can you do. *shrugs*

Enough for now!

Bai!
