Today was a weird day.

I have decided every day gets a title, like on Kino's Journey. When she traveled from place to place each country had an adjective for a name. "Land of Adults", "A Peaceful Land", "Land of Adults".

Well today, was a weird day.

I woke up at 4:30 am and didn't feel like sleeping again. So I got up and cleaned my room. I took pictures. It is a small room, but its okay. I'm glad I have a view, due to the park next door.

The bathroom is much different than what you would find in America. I'll let the picture speak for itself.

So I went to breakfast at around 7:15. I ate the washoku again. Here's a pic:

The fish wasn't as good today. ;-; I am thinking the jet lag is getting to me. Oh, my morning began with me trying to put on my ring (I take it off when I sleep) and it being REALLY tight on my finger. It was because I was dehydrated. After I drank a liter of water, I was good to go again. @_@

Today we had to get a health check at a Japanese clinic. It was really weird. First we had to answer these odd questions. Then we went to the clinic, where they shuffled us from room to room. First I had to take my blood pressure, then give a urine sample (I HATE THIS!!!), then get a test xray, then they took my waist size and performed an EKG, then a hearing test, then they took my height and weighed me, then an eye test, and finally a blood test. The problem was, we got there at 1pm, when all the doctors were on break. Apparently my company didn't realize this. So we sat around for an hour before anything began--without eating anything for lunch. So most of us were pretty cranky by the end. I was afraid I might faint with the blood test because I felt dehydrated, so I pounded water. Luckily I didn't, but the needle hurt badly. It must have been a big needle. The nurse told me to put pressure on the bandaid for 5 mins. An hour and a half later when I wanted to take it off, blood still seeped out, so I put it back on. The clinic staff were really nice though, and it was actually quite efficient.

We were suppose to arrive back at the company at 3:30 and we finally made it back by 4:30. Before then, we stopped by a convenience store to get something to eat. We then went downstairs to find a place to eat. I asked a policeman who was monitoring the area if it was okay to eat there. I was proud of myself. :)

So that was my weird day. Today was most exhausting. I am going to sleep soon. On the way home we were lucky to pass a grocery store and we stopped in to buy some things. While I was there, I saw some things that might interest you guys. So I suffered looking like a total tourist for your sake. Lol.

Yep! Mini watermelon. :D They are pretty expensive. 700-800 yen. (around 8-9 bucks) Don't ask me what the yellow thing is lol.

Tiny grapes next to huge grapes... well not really. The big ones are kinda the size of normal ones. The small ones are probably 1/4 inch in diameter?

Raspberries for 398 yen!! I could get like 10x that at home for the same price! Those blueberries should only be like 4 bucks too. But if you think that's bad, look at the price of beef:

At least I think its bad... I don't buy beef. >.>

Okay, seriously, I swear that Japanese commercial writers/directors are on freaking drugs. Its just unreal. I can't really explain it. They are just loud, and brash, and full of crazy colors and layers that don't make sense!

I am actually enjoying Japanese TV though. I have it on constantly for listening practice at the least. I understand a good amount most of the time! Yay!

I can't imagine coming here and not knowing an ounce of Japanese. How could you do that? I would be terrified. One girl didn't even know what a futon was. How do you adapt with such little knowledge? Especially in a country so different from the West! Wakaranai yo.

I just saw a Fabreeze commercial lol. You know what is weird? In the schools you are not supposed to wear perfume. If a Japanese teacher comes up to you and says "wow, you smell good", that ACTUALLY means "you shouldn't smell good". XD Oh you Japanese sensibilities. >.>

This is what I ate for dinner.

It is watermellon, a potato salad, and chirashi zushi. (sashimi on top of sushi rice) The potato salad was kinda weird. It had lettuce in it lol. And of course cucumber.

There is this weird special on TV about transvestites. >.> As I understand it, this 54 year old guy wanted to be a girl from when he was young, and he would try on his mom's bra and put on her makeup. XD He has a surgery to give him boobs, and says "I really have become a girl!" He really doesn't look like one. >.> And his dad is all "From now on, today is your birthday!" Uhhhhhh.... and he walked his daughter down the isle as a woman. Haha. Okay, he looks SO much better with makeup on. Before it was not pretty. OMG haha... they just had this ridiculous reenactment of his wife walking in on him dressed as a girl. BTW its all dubbed over, cause these people are white. AUGH He picked the name Stephanie. OMG, Bleeeeck. I'm all for doing what you want with your life, but please leave my poor name out of it!

Ahem... sorry. I got carried away...

And with that, I go to bed. I might get to stay in Tokyo a bit longer because they really don't know what is going on with me because I am stationed with the Hitachi branch. I hope so! I'd be nice to have some time to explore.

<3 Steph
